Snackwell's Black Forest Cookie Cakes are "low fat, cholesterol free and low sodium" according to the front of the packaging. I don't have really have a sweet tooth, but there are many people that do, and while I will never consider cookies or cakes healthy food, an indulgence every now and again shouldn't hurt too much - if the portion is right. So thanks Snackwell's for thinking of us, but is the cookie really a viable, not-so-bad option? Well, 1 cookie has 50 calories, 0.5 grams of total fat, no trans fat and 7 grams of sugars, and the ingredients list includes the sugar alcohol, maltitol. Remember, this is one cookie! If you can handle only eating one cookie, then this might be good in the sense that it will satisfy your sweet craving without adding too many calories and sugar grams to your diet.
So how does this taste you ask? Surprisingly good! Now, don't go expecting the taste of real Black Forest cake, but this is really nice. There is a slightly hard, chocolate outer covering, and then a cakey inside. The cookie is sweet enough, and it ought to be since sugar is the first ingredient, which means they use a lot of it.
A box with 12 cookies cost $2.38. This is really not a bad option if you are just in the mood for something sweet to eat. BUT, don't eat more than 1.
