Grapefruit juice is one of those juices that you either love or hate. It can have a very sour taste, and because of that, there is always quite a bit of sugar in grapefruit juice. Florida's Natural Ruby Red grapefruit juice is sour. There is no way to pretty it up. All grapefruit juice is sour. There are 20 grams of sugar, which is about 4 teaspoons, in one cup of juice, and it is STILL sour. The outstanding thing about the Florida's Natural brand is that it is 100% juice (pasteurized) NOT made from concentrate. There are also 90 calories in one cup of this juice, and 100% vitamin C.
Grapefruit juice was made popular by the grapefruit juice diet (click here for more about the diet). I don't know whether it works or not, so I won't comment on that, but in Jamaica, when it was 'grapefruit season' we would cut a grapefruit in half, squirt condensed milk on top of the fruit, mix it around and eat it up. It was delicious! I buy grapefruit juice every once in a while, but I still prefer to eat just the fruit.

Can I use no suger added grapefruit juice for the grapegruit diet or is there too much sugar in it? Do I need to use the unsweetened juice instead?
